Strata electrical planning · Low-rise
Low-rise apartment stratas in British Columbia
Low-rise apartment buildings — typically wood-frame walk-ups — sit between townhouses and high-rises in electrical complexity, with a shared service that future electrification will draw on.
What to know
Electrical planning for low-rise stratas
The considerations that tend to matter most for this building type. We confirm exactly what applies to your strata in the proposal.
A shared electrical service feeds common areas and, often, the suites — so spare capacity and demand management are central questions.
EV charging is usually planned for surface lots or a small parkade, where shared infrastructure and load management matter most.

Electrical Planning Report
Every BC strata corporation of five or more lots must obtain an Electrical Planning Report — an assessment of the building's electrical capacity and what future electrification will need from it.
For a low-rise strata
A shared service typically feeds common areas and often the suites, so spare capacity is the report’s central question.

EV Ready Plan
An EV Ready Plan maps a complete charging strategy onto your building's existing electrical service — stalls, conduit, energy management, and phased costs. It is the route to BC Hydro's plan rebate (up to 75% of the plan's cost, to a $3,000 maximum) and, from July 15, 2026, a qualifying plan on file is required before a strata can access standalone EV charger rebates.
For a low-rise strata
Charging is usually planned for a surface lot or a small parkade, where shared infrastructure and load management matter most. The EV Ready Plan maps a phased rollout and unlocks the BC Hydro plan rebate.

Project Management
Heat pumps, EV charger rollouts, service upgrades — implementing a large electrification project means scope documents, comparable quotes, rebate paperwork, and months of coordination. We manage the project on the strata's behalf — one point of contact from planning through completion.
For a low-rise strata
Wood-frame walk-ups electrifying heat or hot water often find the electrical service is the constraint. A managed project sequences the capacity work and the mechanical conversion in the right order.
Most managed projects start from an Electrical Planning Report or EV Ready Plan. Start with the report →
